Yes. I knew it was a possibility, but today the facts are confirmed.
I am not going to get word from Angry Robot in time for my deadline. I’m not too surprised. I don’t t expect the rest of the world to my timescales but it would have made me relax. Or allowed me to make more concrete plans. Ho hum.
I’m told I should chase them up, but my gut instinct tells me that’s a bad idea. The submission consideration window at Angry Robot is 10-12 weeks. I’m not special. I’m just one other writer in a pool of potential dozens, so there’s no reason for them to put their skates on for me. Not unless they thought the three chapters and synopsis I sent them were truly amazing. I believe they were, but I’m supposed to. 😉
So I’m regretfully forced to announce that Silk Over Razor Blades will not be available to purchase from December 1 as I planned. If Angry Robot use their submission window fully (as is their prerogative) it may well be February before I’m clear to publish. But that’s okay. It just means by then everything will be super-duper-totally ready, as opposed to just super-duper ready. :-p
I’ll be contacting my giveaway entrants to let them know exactly where they stand and how we’ll go ahead from here. And, of course, to apologise.
*sigh*
I’ll not deny that I’m disappointed, but I see this as an opportunity. This will be the final spit polish before everything is done. And who knows? It may be the start of something awesome. I just don’t know.
…and that’s the kicker. :p
