Christmas next week. By the time you hear from me next the ‘big day’ would have come and gone. And we’ll be looking forward to the new year. Woo.
I get more excited about New Year as an event, than Christmas. Not that I don’t love my kids dearly, but I think Ileandra (the soppy side of me) is far more into what the day means for us and the young ones. She’ll tell you all about it, I’m sure.
However… I like getting presents. Doesn’t everyone?
So far I’ve given myself a couple of great presents in the form of Bo Burnham’s CD special, a shrug from TPF Faerie Wear and a few days off. I didn’t do anything yesterday. In fact, I sat in bed while the Funk Master took the boys out and watched YouTube. I freakin’ love YouTube!
But it’s not the presents I’ve bought for myself that I’m enjoying the most. Or even the presents that Funk Master will be getting me (oh, if you’re curious about what that nickname is all about, you really must remind me to tell you about it one day – but not now). The presents I’m enjoying most are the ones from you guys.
I never expected to publish before Ileandra, even through self-publishing means, nor did I expect it to go so well. Since making my crazy announcement last week, downloads of Vicki & Lara have gone mad. It’s still not going to pay any bills, but that’s not the point. I stand by what I said; I draw my pleasure from knowing that people enjoy what I do and by sharing it with as many of you as I can.
So there we go.
That’s my present this year; having published, in any form, and seen downloads from people who are total strangers to me. It’s validation of my obsession with scribbling words that is the sort of gift I couldn’t go out and buy for myself.
Ugh, okay. That’s the soppy crap done.
If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the Christmas decorations Ileandra made a couple of years ago. These things are amazing and she gives a step by step guide on how to make them. They’re so easy that I may even make a couple myself. Hell, I should be better at it than she is. :p
What will you guys be doing for Christmas? It’s been a little quiet around here. Going home for the holidays?
Let me finish up, today with one of the few Christmas songs that doesn’t piss the hell out of me.
