I Wanna Bounce! (& Mah Plans – 06/10)

BalleOoooh yeah! I wanna bounce, bounce, bounce, until my butt is sore. o.O

Okay, that came out a bit weird, but what I mean is, I want to do a blog hop. Or blog bounce. Whatever you want to call it. I want to spread the word about Silk Over Razor Blades’ release and I want you fine people to be involved.

Will you help me?

I’m running the hop between December 1 and December 7 – I figure seven days is more than enough time to bounce around a few blogs and say hi. Any more than that and we run the risk of getting bored, so nice and steady is the key.

I’m looking for bloggers, like yourselves, willing to host a post form me on their blog during that time. I’m willing to answer interview questions, write up character bios, write posts on my writing process or go through a general Q&A on the book itself. I really don’t mind, it’s your blog, I’m just a guest there. πŸ˜‰

If you’re interested, I’d be super-duper grateful if you’d visit this form and fill it in so I can get in contact with you.

This is such an exciting time, I can’t think of anything better than sharing it with as much of you as possible.

For the moment I’m just gathering names, but nearer the time I’ll be able to provide cover art, the full press release and any other bit of information yoopenclip art - money, notes and coinsu’d like. I’m also offering review copies to everyone who takes part! And, even better, when the blog is over, I‘ll put the names of all my kind hosts into a hat and draw one name to win a $10/Β£10 Amazon voucher as my way of saying thank you. Not too shabby, eh?

So… what are you waiting for? Fill in the form, lend me your support and help me celebrate SORB’s release with the biggest bang we can manage. ^_^line break, swirling graphics, from openclipartOctober is here. Woo. Feels like last week was a loooooooong one, but now that we’re here, it’s time for the round up.
Are you ready?

Last week

Approach four more blogs regarding guest posts/interviews.
Yes and no. I approached two and got a thumbs up – which was very kind, but I think I’m going about this the wrong way, hence the post above. I’m aiming for a lot of fuss with streamers and confetti and cake and singing, so the more the merrier I say.

little pink work reading a book; bookworm from OpenClipArtResearch poster opportunities in local stores/hangouts (library / city centre info desk / my various coffee shops / book stores)
Actually it’s pretty good out there. So long as you’re local, which I am. When my cover art is ready I’ll have some images that are suitable for posters and I can start putting those in the places I frequent as well as the local library. I love my library, they’re such a lovely bunch in there and I’m so glad they’re willing to help. πŸ™‚

Check out BBC Radio Leicester for similar speaking opportunities.
They exist, but you need a hook. Something that links in to what they’re already doing to show that there may be interest. Hmm. I’ll work on that.

Find a networking event to attend in the near future
It’s the writer’s meetup tomorrow. Baby sitting opportunities permitting, I’ll be able to go to that and chat with some other local writerly types. That would be nice, it’s been a while.

Get my Goodreads account working and check it at least twice in the week
*sigh* I’m terrible when it comes to technology I’m not familiar with. The account is working now, but can I navigate through that minefield? It’s going to take time, that’s all I can say.

Outline plan for ‘subscriber zone’ on this blog and on main website
Oops. I knew I’d miss something. Aah well, maybe this week.

Spend at least two nights NOT working and combine them with EITHER an early night or a CrossFit/Roller Derby workout*
Does being horrifically ill and sleeping most of Saturday count? *sigh* I’m still waiting for results from my last hospital stay but they’re taking their time. I guess from the fact that I’ve not heard anything there’s nothing to worry about, but I can’t keep being ill like this. It’s depressing and scary. Hmm. Back to the GP I guess.

September 2014 Goal Recap

Not a bad month in terms of getting things done. Lookie, lookie!

Know who is going to produce cover art for SORB and how much it is going to cost. Have at least a faux deadline for completion of primary artwork.
Why yessss, the lovely Dave Johnson who wowed me so much at our last meet. In fact I’m looking forward to some mock-ups in the next couple of days are so. Tis going to be GRAND and subscribers get to look at the selection (and help me choose!) before the final design is made. Wanna be in on that? Better sign up quick!

blank calendar from OpenClipArtHave a clear idea of the steps I plan to take insofar as marketing (including blog tours, promotion posts, cover reveals, excerpts and social media work).
Eeyup. Getting my blog tour sorted, along with dates for cover (and poster) reveals as well as excerpts and teasers. Guess I need to start scheduling it now. πŸ˜‰

Submit one existing piece (short story / flash fiction) to an appropriate (and preferably free) competition.
Yup. In fact I did two. I must have had a made week or something because I just started sending stuff off and then couldn’t stop! Not a bad thing though. No one will know I’m here unless I shout a bit, right?

Take on Phase Two of my collaborative project and find fellow conspirators (remember to check in on Saturday for more concrete details)
Aaah yes, Fab Fables. You not involved yet? You want to be? Then please, check out this post for details on how to get involved with the most exciting new project evaaaa!

I’m certainly relaxing more in the evenings, if that counts. But I’m still high strung and tense with stress. Hmm. Try harder? …or does that defy the point. o.O

Goals For October 2014

Weeeeell, looking back at my goals for the rest of the year most of it is just about drafting the rest of Saar’s Legacy now. A bit of a pain because I know Raven has quite a bit of work to do for Slippers & Chains, meaning our fight over who gets to do NaNoWriMo this year is going to be quite intense. Hmm. I’ll think about that. But insofar as this month goes:

  1. Finalise hosts for blog tour and have a clear schedule of what goes when so I can start generating content
  2. Write up press release for SORB
  3. Pick final design for SORB cover art
  4. Complete edits from Karen at LionheART

Mooooooore than enough to be getting on with I’d say.

This Week

So let’s start with the easy stuff that’s simple to control:

  1. Check in with Karen regarding SORB edits
  2. Check in with Dave regarding cover art if no input by Wednesday
  3. Seek hosts for my blog bounce
  4. Outline content of SORB’s press release
  5. Spend at least two nights NOT working and combine them with EITHER an early night or a CrossFit/Roller Derby workout*

I’ll stop there. Any more than that and someone’s head will pop off their next. ^_^

Now that’s done, I’m off out. I gotta go see a doctor. πŸ˜‰

new ileandra signature,

*I’m keeping this ‘non writing’ goal in because it’s a health thing and my health has a direct affect on what I’m able to achieve career wise.

About Ileandra Young

I'm a thirty-*mumbles* year old (purple loving, cheese worshipping) author of fantasy, juggling a pair of beautiful twin boys with my burning desire to make up stories and write them all down. When I get the chance, I play games, listen to music, and in days long past I even ran a radio show. Though I occasionally write non-fiction, my heart lives in fantasy and my debut novel, Silk Over Razor Blades is now available through Amazon along with part two of the trilogy, Walking The Razor's Edge.
