Rescheduling

Hmm. I don’t know how I got to be the one who always does the ‘news’ posts, but this is more news. I suppose it’s appropriate since the Meeting Each Other Series is my brain child, but still….

‘Meeting Each Other: Vicki & Lara’ was due for release on 27 September 2013. Seems to me that there are still too many loose ends to tie up neatly to stick to that deadline. A shame, since that date is significant, but I’d rather put out a product that is the best it can be, slightly later than I wanted, than have it be rubbish on the date I wanted. Especially since I’ll be charging for it!

So…! The new release date for Vicki & Lara is 20 October 2013!

Don’t worry; I’ll still run the draw for the free copies on 27 September like I was intending to. If you want to be in with a chance to win a free copy come October, then please continue to comment. So far there are 13 names in the draw and more than a few of those are duplicates, giving folk a good chance to snap up a free copy.

In other news *snerk* the second story in the series, Clubbing Malcolm, is going swimmingly well. I look forward to sharing excerpts of that with you at a later date.

For now though, to take the sting out of my news, I’ve got a little treat for you. Scroll down to enjoy some pretty pieces of quote art from the upcoming ‘Vicki & Lara’ story.

Busy Week!

Blimey. I knew, at the start of the week, that this would be a busy post, but I had no idea how much so! It’s all slightly crazy around here.

Good Things!
#goodthingsjar2013 from augustI know it’s September 6, but apparently my brain couldn’t cope with the usual first of the month post. Meh, it happens. Consider this, the catch up on the Good Things Jar. Yes, the jar is still going strong and I’m thoroughly pleased with what I’ve been able to add. I’m less pleased at how much I’m struggling to find different coloured paper to use though (you wouldn’t think that was hard!).

Anyway. This is how the jar looks now (yes there are a few September slips in there, so sue me!). August was a great month! Lot’s of reading, lots of outings, decisions to go back to LARP and writing goals. The Write Feeling is now signed off the New Enterprise scheme, meaning I can branch out and do more and more for myself to find work. I have a lot to be happy about.

Twerking
I’m English (British if I don’t want to upset my dad) so I miss out on some of the slang from across the water. I don’t go chasing it because all of my writing also takes place in the UK, so it’s not always relevant. Maybe that’s why I missed this word. Who knows?

What I do know, is that my first exposure to the word ‘twerking’ and what it actually means has been stamped on my brain so violently that I doubt I’ll ever recover.

I’ve never been a big fan of the Disney child stars. Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake aside, I’ve just never been interested. But Miley Cyrus? What a freakin’ joke!

Poor girl. 😦 Either her agent/producers secretly hate her and want her to be a laughing-stock, or she’s got enough of a ‘tude that she convinced them to let her do that ridiculous act at the VMAs. Either way, her ‘twerk’ disturbed me. But… at least I know what it is now. Yey…?

Goals
These are going very well indeed. By Wednesday I was half way through and now I only have one item to go from Monday’s list. Not sure how I’ll manage with that, but I’ll give you an update on that when the time comes. No need to spoil the surprise. :p

Letters and Magazine Articles
I did it again! So happy! I know it’s just a letter, but that just-a-letter is my name in a magazine. Again. Third time now. ^_^ It’s going a long way towards boosting my confidence and assuring me that I do have something to say that people want to read.

Better than that, I received my copy of We Are Family magazine last week (I totally forgot to share, sorry). The article I pitched in June has now been printed and is being read by the masses. *fans self* I wish it had my byline on, but alas, no. Ho hum; at least I know I wrote the piece!

Even More News
Yes, some of that too. But, since Raven refuses to share a page with me, she’ll have to tell you herself. I’m sure she won’t mind.

And don’t forget, I’m still running that competition. The easiest entry in the world! Just leave a comment on the blog on posts made up to September 26 and for each comment your name will go into the draw to win one of four free copies of my upcoming ebook; ‘Meeting Each Other: Vicki & Lara’.

Go on. ^_^ You know you wanna!

Goals: The Week Ahead

My mum came to visit over the weekend. It was lovely. ^_^ I always enjoy seeing her and having her around while Dave was away was just all sorts of lovely. I’m hoping to see her a little more often as weeks go by, though that all depends on travel and how awake I actually am to do that stuff. o.O

I meant to visit Pride on Saturday and got totally swept up in enjoying my mum’s company. A shame as it would have been nice to head up there and see what was going on. I guess I’ll just have to wait until next year. *sigh*

Anyway…

Football goal posts from OpenClipArtLast week I told you I wanted to keep track of my goals. In line with that I should give you a look at what I’ve been up to and what I plan to do.
Previous week’s round-up:

  • Started last round of editor’s edits for Vicki & Lara
  • Made a rough plan of next short story to enter into WM or WF competition
  • Wrote one article for online vendor
  • Two large transcripts for The Write Feeling
  • Wrote two blog posts

Considering that I had no specific plan I’m pleased that I’ve been able to do so much. Going forward then I have a couple of mini goals that I need to tackle so this week is about getting closer to those. Looking forward to doing the following things:

  • Complete at lease one more transcript piece for The Write Feeling
  • Write another article for an online vendor
  • Complete another 2,000 of editor’s edits for Vicki & Lara
  • Write up blog post for Friday
  • Start writing next short story for WM or WF competition

Laying it out like this is far more productive for me and saves me from whining and non-productive posts like Friday’s one. I still feel guilty about that, but better for having got it all off my chest. Confusing sensation, that. Ho hum.

Thanks for joining me by the way. It’s nice to know – even though I kinda did – that I’m not by myself in that regard.

And remember, the competition is still going: each comment you make on posts throughout August up to September 26, your name will be put in the draw to win one of four free copies of the upcoming ebook ‘Meeting Each Other: Vicki & Lara’.

It’s Not Fair!!

I know I’ve had this rant before, but I can’t help it. Why can (and why do) established authors get away with so much? Such poor writing? Such weak characters? Plots that are completely unbelievable and a stretch even for the crazy characters these authors come up with? WAH!

The song is a lot lighter than what’s actually going through my head right now, but I can barely speak or think.

I love these books. I’m powering through them and still buying more of them to complete the collection. I’m still not going to tell you what they are, as I don’t think I have anything nice to say other than that. But the characters are ridiculous and surreal in a way that stopped being believable at about book seven. I’m now on book eleven by the way. The plot of each book is barely existent; just a long, painful, uphill slog from one orgy to the next. Oh, didn’t I mention? These characters have regular non-penetrative orgies now. *gag*

Sorry that this isn’t at all productive, sensible, or even well written (pot- kettle- black-?) but I need to vent.

So guys… what about you? Any books, stories, or series that have given you trouble? Or do you have anything to vent about? You know, just in general. Come on, join me. ^_^ Spit it all out, clear your mind and then enjoy your weekend. :p I plan to.
Oh, and if you comment on this post, as well as other posts I’ll be adding to the draw for the free ebook, you’ll get an extra name in the hat! Bitchin’ bitches love company! ^_^

Catch Up Blog: Ooops. Sorry! Okay, erm… goals!

I MISSED A POST!
Crying face from OpenClipArt

Yeah, yeah, I know, I know; I’m allowed. I have a reason. I can be excused. -_- I’m still sorry. Those of you who are regular visitors… I feel committed to you. I don’t want to let you down. I don’t want to let me down either.

So here is the catch up post.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time in recent weeks talking about me and my life. While that’s interesting – I hope – it’s not the point of the blog. I like to share with you, but every now and then I feel I should dip into writing and the things that come with it.

So I want to talk about goals.

I may have mentioned this already, but the Phoenix Subs Club is really giving me the get-up-and-go attitude I’ve been lacking through August. Oh, I’ve certainly got things done, but they haven’t always been relevant to my long term goals. Our task, two weeks ago, was to come up with a list of long and short term goals. The idea was that by posting them on the Subs Club Blog, we would be publicly committing to get these things done.

Well I’ve always liked stuff like that. (^_^)
Here is my list as I wrote it week before last.

checking off feedbackLong Term Goals

  • Publish Silk Over Razor Blades through self-publishing or traditional means by December 2014
  • Publish the first part of Slippers & Chains by January 2014 through my self-publishing label Little Vamp Press
  • Win a short story or flash fiction competition by December 2014
  • Publish at least two of the short stories in my erotic ‘Meeting Each Other’ series by May 2014 through my self-publishing label Little Vamp Press
  • Continue to earn at least £50 a month by way of writing activities (The Write Feeling, competitions, transcribing, sales)

Short Term Goals

  • Complete profiles on at least two the freelancing sites I found and find at least one job through them by the end of October 2013
  • Enter one competition a month (Writers Forum, Writing Magazine or Flash500.)
  • Organise a sensible and manageable timetable by 31 August that I can use to make these goals doable without losing my mind (!)

I think that’s all doable. And, more than that, I used the SMART criteria to come up with that. I think, by doing so, and by telling all of you fine people, I’ll be in a better position to achieve what I want. And of course, by doing so here, I put myself in a better position to keep up with my goals.

So! Monday’s posts, from now, until further notice will be for goals (as well as Slippers & Chains videos when our production break ends). I’ll use Mondays to assess the previous week, plan the current week and look forward to what I hope to do. I think this is a great way of keeping in mind all the things I want to do and keeping a handle on it. I don’t want to do what I did early in the year and come up with a whole bunch of things I’d like to do without any sort of plan for doing so. That’s not how things get done!

What about you? Do you make a goal list by the day, or week, or month? How do you handle changing priorities and unexpected happenings? Do you lay out goals at all? Do you have any tips for poor lil jumbled up me? :p
I love hearing from you and remember, for each comment you make on posts throughout August up to September 26, your name will be put in the draw to win one of four free copies of the upcoming ebook ‘Meeting Each Other: Vicki & Lara’.
