Yes! As if things aren’t mad enough I’ve decided to dip my toes in a new challenge! Having missed out on the A-Z Challenge of April (I’m always way too slow to get in on that… grr!), I wanted to try something to give me a bit of a stretch. Something doable, but still involves a bit of work. I figure this is a nice, safe way to exercise my writing muscles, while waiting for a bit more work from The Write Feeling (more on that tomorrow, by the way).
I first caught wind of this over at the First Draft Café and since I know Maria to be absolutely lovely (!) I figured she wouldn’t mind me hopping onto the band wagon. 😉
This post is, strictly speaking, a day late, but since yesterday was such a good writing day I’m going to start from there and see how I get on. At the time of writing my word count for May stands at 1,689 and I’ll be using these familiar graphs to keep track.

Just for clarity, here is a quick list of the things I’ll be including in this word count:
- First drafts
- Short stories
- Flash fiction
- Novels/novellas
- Work type bits
- Letters
- Articles
- Features
I think that should be plenty to keep me going. I’ll check in again next week so you can see how I’m getting on. And for the rest of you taking part… happy writing!
