Yes. Clash Of The Animal Kings (CoTAK when I’m feeling lazy) is my NaNoWriMo novel of 2010. An early excerpt can be found here and various ramblings while writing it and beyond can be found here.
If you were around yesterday then you would have read that I have found a publisher for this novel. Today I can say yes, yes, yes, this is the truth and yes, yes, yes I am thoroughly excited!
Contract signed and between myself and Lester Smith of Popcorn Press to publish Clash Of The Animal Kings. WAH!
This is early stages yet. Its taken me some time to be happy with the decision to go ahead with Popcorn (paranoia that this is too good to be true and someone is having a mean joke on me can do that) but now that’s out of the way, I do realise there’s plenty more to go. I just wish I knew how much. This is all new territory for me and I as much as I can talk to other authors about what they might have been through, every experience is different. All I can say is that I’m overjoyed to get the chance of experiencing it at all.
There were lots of people involved with CoTAK to the stage its at, though I really feel I should give especial thanks to Sara Slack of Inspired Quill (your thoughtful comments and editing sample gave me more than enough ammunition to go on and make the story stronger), Celine Smith-Peterson for catching finer issues while beta reading for me (as well as giving me some vaulable personal insights which helped flesh out one of the characters) and to (Honest) David Soden for quietly giving me a gentle nudge whenever I began to falter.
Don’t disappear though, guys. I may need you again as time goes on; this is far, far from over! :p
The novel is to be published late in 2012; so as and when I get any updates I’ll be sure to pass them along to you. All in all I have to say this puts me in an extremely positive frame of mind for 2012 and for work like Silk Over Razor Blades which, though it still needs work, is getting closer and closer to what I want it to be.
Squee!
