Bonus Blog: The End Is Nigh

Brevard Zoo, Viera FL - Flickr - Rusty Clark (33)I can hear some of you saying that I shouldn’t be that dramatic, but I can’t help it. Perhaps its not so bad as to need a tombstone (okay, its not that bad at all), but knowing the date your life is going to change forever is like knowing when you’re going to die; nothing can make you ready for it.

I had an appointment at with the clinic on Monday. Its taken two days just to settle myself to the point that I can talk about what we discussed.
Some of you may know that ‘full term’ for a lady pregnant with twins is 37 weeks, not 40. That means my due date is less than a week from today. Of course my babies can arrive any time they feel like between now and the actual date, but I now have an appointment at the hospital for when I’m to be induced.

May 4th 2012.

The date my life is going to change forever. Again.

As if finding out I was pregnant wasn’t quite enough, the fact that I’ll soon be able to hold my babies in my arms, see their faces and touch their skin is becoming more and more of a reality. In fact, it could very well be as soon as next Friday… 4th May….

I feel really, really strange. In fact, I feel like its knowing when my life is going to end. And its not like that at all. Its knowing when the most incredible thing in the world is going to happen to me; me who probably doesn’t even deserve it. To begin with… who didn’t even want it! I’m going to be a mother. I’m going to have the chance to do for two young lives what my mother has done for me since the day I popped out of her. The sense of responsibility, excitment and fear that comes with that is unlike anything I have ever known. Nothing is going to top it. Ever.

I’m not really sure what else to say. I don’t have the words for it, which, seems to make this blog post somewhat redundant, but its not. Basically, what I’m saying is, come Friday 4th May, I’ll be heading into hopsitial to meet my babies. Blog posts will continue as normal since they’re all scheduled up, including those from the kind people who have been good enough to provide guest posts for me (remember if you would still like to contribute, I’d be honoured and grateful!).

I’ll make updates as often as is possible/feasible to keep you in the loop. I want to share this with you guys as much as I want to share with my growing family. Then, when things calm down, I’ll let you know that too and come off scheduled posts. 🙂

Oh… and I nearly forgot; while its not quite my birthday, if the procedure goes as quickly as I might hope, then my babies will be born on Star Wars Day. How awesome is that?!

How Sunny Are You? ~Enter to Win!

This sort of question would normally lead me to growl and glance up at the darkening April sky, heavy with the threat of still more rain. Considering massive swathes of England are supposedly suffering from drought, it seems that Leicester has enough rain to make going outside some sort of a crazy lottery.

Sunshine award bannerBut that’s not what I’m talking about – so there’s no need to panic. No, I’m talking about the Sunshine Award that I won by way of a contest on Erin Pike’s blog. Please do pop over and visit her if you haven’t already; she’s a recent addition to my list of ‘followed blogs’ and she should totally be on your list too!

As with any award there are some (nice and simple) rules to follow, and these are they:

  1. Thank the person who gave you this award and link back to them in your post
  2. Tell us five things about yourself
  3. Nominate 10 more bloggers to receive this award and let them know they have been nominated

Okay, well thank you, Erin for the chance to win myself an award. I do appreciate it and I am totally stealing borrowing yours and Jennifer’s idea.

As for five things about myself, I’ll see if I can tell you five things I’ve not talked about before:

  1. I refuse to wear an over the shoulder handbag; I’ll only wear a rucksack (they’re more comfortable!) regardless of where I’m going. The only exceptions are formal events.
  2. I refuse to pluck my eyebrows (even though my mum pesters me to shape them every time she sees me), or shave my legs. Though I’m fortunate in that you’d never know I don’t shave my legs; they just aren’t hairy. Ha. *smug face*
  3. I’m shit scared of ladybirds (o.O yeah… I don’t know why either)
  4. I sometimes strike matches just to smell the burning (mmmm sulphur o.O)
  5. Even though I can ski and ice skate, I can’t stop (without crashing) on either medium

Yeah… nobody said I was normal

Okay, here’s the twist! Rather than nominating bloggers for this award (I’ve done a lot of that recently), this is a chance for you to win the award for yourself. All you need to do is write a piece of flash fiction (up to 100 words) containing the word ‘sunshine.’ Pop it in the comments and I’ll give the whole thing a week, by which point I’ll pick out ten of the best ones. Oh and if there are less than ten entrants, then all of you get the award! How cool is that? I really think its a lovely idea so let’s do this! You have until April 30 to get your entries in! Go, go, go!

Bonus Blog: St George’s Day

I know… I should have done this much earlier today, but its been crazy busy. Though I have been thinking about it all day. Yes… Happy St George’s Day!openclipart - st george and dragonI like the idea of England having a patron saint. I like the idea that the day is celebrated (even if not as much as St Patrick’s day) and that it circles around something as cool as tackling a dragon. That’s no mean feat as any DnD player will tell you. :p

I don’t have too much to say other than ‘I hope you had a good’un’ and that you’re celebrating through whatever means you do so. I don’t actually call myself English (I tend to say British), but this is the country I live in and I’m proud to say as much (most of the time).

Six Sentence Sunday 22/04 #11

Its Sunday again!

Time for another six sentences from my A-Z of Flash Fiction.

The trigger word today is bra which I’m sure will result in as saucy a snippet as you’d expect! 😉

Let’s go!

~Chloe and Matt play games with a touch of a BDSM vibe!

The knickers were gone in seconds; snip, snip. Both hip ties sliced effortlessly by the sharp blades, leaving Matt free to tug the fabric away.

It peeled free of her body reluctantly, held temporarily by the gushing river of moisture pouring from her most secret place.

Matt groaned. “You really do like this don’t you? I never knew; I should tie you up far more often.”

Nom, nom, nom!

And I’ll leave you with that for now. Remember there are more authors taking part, as usual, who you can find by hitting the banner below. Catch you next time!

80 Post Challenge – Post 59

What did you learn today? What did you learn yesterday?

Radio ILL-LAY photoToday? -_- I learned that I have a really weird voice when I’m excited. Like… kinda snuffly and wacky, or, more specifically, a bit zaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaney. o.O

I’m listening to some old radio shows, because I’m trying to find a way to upload them to this site on a bit of a permanent basis. Whilst doing that, I can honestly say that hearing my own voice gush about my birthday is just the most bizarre experience I’ve come across for a while.

I’ve also learned that I have grown a great deal since then. Not that this was long ago; in fact, this particular radio show is almost a year ago exactly, but it was one I did on my birthday. In that year I’ve done so much and been through so much that even though I sound the same (probably) I’m really not the same person. I’ve matured.

That’s cool in of itself. ^_^

Yesterday? -_- Yesterday, I learned that cots (or cotbeds) cost a shit load of money! Considering that they are for very (VERY) small people, they cost a fortune! And their posh mattresses with foam and springs and iso-metric-funky-breathable-waterproof-layer-ness!

o.O

Standing in Babies R Us nearly made me sob as I looked at some of those prices. Though I will admit that the threat of tears were a curious mix of pleasure at buying things for my babies and horror at the cost.

I handed over my card at the till and quietly thought; ‘the last time I spent this much money in one go, I was probably paying for my holiday to Tenerife.’ Blimey.

So how does that count? Suitable learning curve?

The cots are nice though, just as an aside. Its the one in the picture. We’ve got two of them upstairs in massive cardboard boxes waiting to be put together. *sigh* Now that’s going to be a real mission!
