It would be wrong to say I have too much time on my hands. I most certainly don’t. Or rather, I don’t have time on my hands that I’m able to use in a ‘productive’ fashion. I’m no longer at work; so my days are spent teaching, entertaining and loving my boys. That is as much a job as anything I used to do in the office. I don’t get paid for it either, though love, smiles and giggles are a far more valuable currency. 😉
Anyway, the point is, I have lots of things to occupy my time, which is the reason that posts here have been a rather varied jumble recently. I’m telling you this because things are likely to stay jumbled and random for a few more weeks yet, especially with my latest idea. Well… Dave’s idea, really.
I spend a lot of time in coffee shops. I enjoy the ambience while supping lovely warm drinks and scoffing cakes. Sometimes I write letters, other times I read a book. Most of the time I hold onto one of my darling boys because he’s bored in the pram. I do all of this either in Dave’s company, or in the company of one of my friends. My favourite drink is currently a caramelatte (NOM!) and my favourite cake is the lemon drizzle cake that can be found in very, many different places. Apparently its rather popular.
Since I spend so much time in these places and insist upon having a slice of cake almost every time Dave thought it would be a funny thing to do a review on all the different locations and the quality of their cakes. Heh. I’m not much of a food critic, but I LOVE food and I certainly don’t have a problem talking about it. I have even less of a problem sampling different cakes all over the city!
So… this is my new feature, for a short while anyway. ^_^
My most regular coffee haunt is Cafe Nero, but I also frequent Starbucks and several other small places that seem unique to Leicester. I’m going to make a point of visiting each one (and any other place that offers a lemon drizzle cake) and writing up a review.
I know it’s silly, but I like the idea of silly right now. Something light-hearted and gentle for the Christmas season.

I think it sounds like a great light, fun idea! I’m looking forward to your reviews. 🙂

I agree with JM, I think it sounds fun too. I love lemon cake, especially the ones with lemon curd filling.
