I’m so close to that 50k. I can almost taste it now. I’m practically salivating at the thought of hitting that mark. It always makes me feel so good!

But I’m tired now and I’ve done a good wedge of work today. It would be a shame to keep rushing in and writing dross when there’s no need to rush.

But I’m picking up speed again now. I’ve got the back end of my antagonist and pseudo-antagonist (yes, it is a word!) sorted it out and the big reveal has been and gone. Michelle has had the rug swept out from under her (to use at terrible cliché) and is now at the point that she must make some drastic decisions about what comes next. And of course, the decision she makes will make things (much) worse in preparation for the major show down which begins the last act of the story.

Mwa h ah aha ha ha hah ah ha hahahaaa!

I’ve hit that point of the first draft where I love every word and I’m mega excited about what’s to follow. ^_^

Though . . . it does make me wonder when I’ll hit that slump and start hating everything again. :-/

I love watching movies. They’re a great study, generally quite entertaining and a wonderful learning tool. Tonight, for instance, I wanted The Covenant. Nothing spectacular, but watchable (and it had Kylie Schmidt in it . . . I really quite fancy him). In addition to providing me with some mindless witchy action (all centred on men, by the way) but I think it also helped to solve my magic problem.

!!!

I still need to refine the ideas a little, but I’m beginning to see how I want to play this through. It’s given me the nugget of an idea for how to handle the rivalry between the Guardians and for how Michelle gets her powers in the first place. It has even given me an inkling on what those powers actually are. SQUEEE!

So now, I’m off to sleep on it and see what the morning brings me.

Wish me sweet (productive) dreams, people! ^_^

Another slow day. I realised somewhere between last night and midday that my pushing at NaNo is all well and good, but I still have the next part of ‘Dead And Alive’ to prepare as well as the final proof of ‘Walking The Razor’s Edge.’ Oh, and I have to write back cover blurbs for the pair of them.

Meh. So I did a bit of all that as well as tweaking the cover of ‘Target Beta.’ Hey . . . I know this is meant to be a NaNoWriMo post, but wanna see?

Shhh, don’t tell anyone I’m showing you this:

dead and alive episode three cover

Puuuuurdy!

It’s not on pre-order yet, but it will be. Just as soon as I get that pesky description finished.

In the meantime, here’s what you actually came for; some stats about today’s NaNo progress.

I knew I forgot something last night. Oh well.

Anyway, still going well. Slower than previous days as I work on this magic problem, but I’m closer now to where I want to be. The idea is starting to take shape and make sense.

In other news, there’s now a romantic sub plot emerging that I had no idea was lurking beneath these characters. That’s nice . . . I guess?

Anyway, numbers!

More tonight when I’ve got today’s words down.

*head desk* I kept going. I know I should be making a decision about the magic and/or shifters but I just couldn’t stop writing today. Once I (finally) hit my stride, I had so much fun. I put Michelle in a burning building with her friend Gemma and they had to get out. But the building was empty (abandoned newspaper offices) and they were both trussed up like chickens. She did it (!) but now the building is on fire, her friend is safe, but Michelle is three floors up and can’t get down. She’ll have to use her powers . . . !

. . . except I don’t know exactly what those powers are yet. -_-

So I stopped. That’s why I stopped. But I WILL figure it out. Don’t know when, don’t know how, but I love this story too much to let it go. Michelle’s character is one I really admire, all of her sass despite her dire situation. She deserves the best supernatural props I can give her so I’m going to take my time over it. Ish.

Anyway, here! *throws* Have some stats! ^_^
