I’ve mentioned my A-Z Flash Fiction Challenge already. I was going to wait for the 80 Post Challenge to finish, but I’m too excited about some of these stories I’ve been writing. Especially since I’ve been talking about them on Twitter every day. I’m keen to know what people think, so this is one of them; the very first one.
To give you the background; this challenge involves writing a piece of flash of up to 750 words (though some of them are more than that, oops!) using the list trigger words I wrote while supping hot chocolate in Café Nero. The trigger words go from A-Z (hence the name) and the idea is to write them as quickly as possible – leaving no time for second guessing myself or editing before I’m done writing.
Then when I’ve written them, I wait about a week then go back and edit.
This first one has been tightened up a bit, but I think it still needs some work, which is why I’m keen for thoughts and feedback. The trigger word for this was ‘Anger’ and I think I wrote the first draft in something like 13 minutes.
Take a look; I’d love to know your thoughts!
Anger
TEMPORARILY REMOVED FOR THE PURPOSES OF SUBMITTING THE FULL STORY
My A-Z Challenge is inspired by an idea from Maria at the First Draft Cafe.
What happened to him???
That should show you that it is gripping enough… 🙂
Likes: That the ‘anger’ was there for him, for her, and then about something else, clever.
Improvement: Personal taste, but I don’t like every detail of actions played out to me, I like that she pushed the glasses back up her nose, don’t need to know which fingers it was with. Not really a proper critique just a personal thing, it stunts my imagination.

Its a comment that comes up at the writer’s group actually; ensuring that the reader has something to do. The last thing I want to do is take all the work out of it for a reader, otherwise there doesn’t leave much for the imagination to fill in as you say.
Anyway, all comments are helpful comments. Thank you! ^_^

Oh and I’m not telling. :p
That IS something for the reader to play with themselves. 😀
